Secret Structures and What They do when We Aren't Looking 2020
This was a collaborative project with the SGC at Oxford University. I chose to focus on imitating and replicating the shapes and movements of a protein within a cell, using the human body to make the audience feel more familiar with it despite the science behind the piece being very complex.
I also looked into the possibility of similarities between scientific research and the occult by comparing the use of crystals as well as where women's history and contributions fit in with both areas.
The final result is a collaboration with Lily Trenchard, a choreographer and professional dancer, to emulate the movements and mystical associations of crystals without losing sight of their uses withing science due to their structure and ways they interact with light.
